Where Do We Pray From Here??? - Saturday, January 31, 2009

Dear Prayer Force One Intercessors.

We were stunned last week by the number of you who wrote in response to the apparent end of our Prayer Force One White House Prayer Meeting. Hundreds upon hundreds responded with one united voice. Although we read every single letter, we soon realized that there was no way we could send an answer to so many. Please except this as our appreciation for taking the time to write! You cannot begin to know how encouraging your letters were. Allow me to summarize what has happened and how we see the future.

     1. As you know, the new Obama White House web site has currently discontinued the virtual tours of the various rooms of the White House. As a result, our two and a half year-old Prayer Force One White House Prayer Meeting came to a screeching halt at noon on Inauguration Day. While it is true that President Bush wrote and thanked us for our prayers on his behalf, in all fairness, please understand that our new president is probably unaware of the effect the transition has caused. We have written to President Obama and explained the situation and asked him to please reinstate the virtual tours. We will let you know how The White House responds.

     2. The prevailing sentiment has been that while we can always pray, the unifying effect of our Prayer Force One White House Prayer Meeting must not be lost! This we heard loud and clear, and it is a conviction that we also share. It seems that the prayer meeting fostered a transcending sense of genuine unity for all of us, as well as imparting a sense that we were praying in America's House, yea, in America's living room! This being true, the question then became: "LORD, how can we continue to encourage and build this Biblical unity in prayer for America?"

     3. The seed germ answer to this question was, I believe, contained in your many letters. The frustration, the disappointment and the universal expressions of desire to continue, have all combined to show that we must find a way. One letter in particular sparked our imagination by referring to some White House slide shows that we could perhaps link to. While it quickly became apparent that these would not work, we began to ask ourselves why we couldnt develop our own virtual, interactive slide presentations. Each presentation would feature a different location with a different prayer emphasis for each day of the week. For instance:

On Sunday... With Prayer Force One filling the role as "America's Flagship of Prayer", we thought it would be appropriate to begin our prayer week by praying for America's prayer movement aboard Prayer Force One, This slide tour would begin at PF-1 headquarters, including a virtual tour of the bus, and then proceed to our travels all across America. Links to other major prayer ministries would be contained on our web site.

On Monday, we could begin our work week with a prayer tour of the White House Rose Garden, giving way to our entry into The Oval Office as it has appeared through the various administrations. Our focus on Monday would be to pray for the President of our counry.

On Tuesday, we would then pray in the various rooms of The White House; I.E. The Red Room, Blue Room, Green Room, upstairs, downstairs, etc., with a prayer emphasis on rebuilding the families and homes of our nation.

On Wednesday, we could pray over the White House grounds through the various seasons of the year.

On Thursday, our prayer tour could take us to the many sites of Washington like the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the cherry blossomed tidal basin, the Washington Monument, the Supreme Court, (inside and out) Arlington National Cemetery, etc. etc. As you know, there is a spiritual legacy carved in stone on many of these historic sites.

On Friday, our prayer tour would find us winding our way through the U.S. Capitol Building, passing through the Capitol rotunda, the House and Senate chambers, beyond Statuary Hall and ending in the U.S. Capitol Prayer Chapel. Our prayer emphasis on this day would be for our elected officials in Washington.

On Saturday, we could conclude our prayer time with a trip to all fifty state capitols, as we prayed for our various state and local governments.

In the development of each of these prayer tours, we could also include Bible verses, quotes from our presidents, prayer guides and even prayerful music in the background. In addition to these standing prayer tours, we could also develop special prayer tours for Christmas, Easter, Flag Day, Presidents Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, etc. We could also have special prayer in places like Camp David or even aboard Air Force One itself. The sky is truly the limit.

The important thing is to do what you have encouraged us to do, which is to continue to provide unique forums to promote unity in prayer for our nation. We are already busy preparing our White House Rose Garden & Oval Office Tour to get things going again.

Once again, thank you for caring, for responding, and most of all, for praying for our beloved country. The revival of our nation or certain destruction are the two choices America now faces! The difference relies on our seeking God though prayer. If you would like to express your views or send suggestions about these ideas, you may again contact us by clicking on the Prayer & Stripes emblem above. We really do read every single letter! Many times, our inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit through you!
