Prayer Force One Earns Her Wings - Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Dear Prayer Partners,

During the recent holidays, we have had time to reflect on the miraculous time that marked the beginning of Prayer Force One. As I recap this incredible year, let there be no mistake; it is by God's mercy and grace that we have been so blessed. We ourselves have been humbled by the entire experience. TOGOD BE ALL THEGLORY!!!

Since going "live", our Prayer Force One web site has had hundreds of thousands of hits, representing people from all 50 states and many foreign countries.Because this mushroom in growth, manyof our newer friends have not been able to follow the growth and hear the testimonies of how God has blessed Prayer Force One, we thought it would be helpful to pause and recap some of the highlights that we've experienced during Prayer Force One's birthing cycle.

A Great God & One Old Bus

The ministry of Prayer Force One began when God directed Sandy and I to an old (1971) greyhound bus, which had been built and then commissioned the same year as Air Force One, (SAM 27000). It wasn't long before we acquired the bus as God spoke to our hearts saying, "Call the bus Prayer Force One and call America back to me." In the weeks that followed, God confirmed the call by miraculously providing the exact same paint as that used on Air Force One. I've included some before and after photos of the inside and outside of the bus.

After an eighteen month conversion period, Prayer Force One was ready to spread her spiritual wings. The next eighteen months corresponded almost exactly to the 2007-08 presidential election. Our first tour, The Heartland Tour, led us across the paths two presidential candidates: Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney and Colorado Congressman, Tom Tancredo. If we had known how easy it was to meet presidential candidates during the early days of the Iowa campaign, we would have planned more time in that state. We were also privileged to meet and talk with a host of governors, U.S. senators, congressmen, state legislators and other civic leaders,a fewof which, are pictured below.

In the tours that followed, we travelled to 26 states and 15 state capitols promoting national prayer in whatever way we could. We made new friends along the way, among which were many Christian state senators and representatives. Below we've included photos of most of the state capitols that we visited.

During our various tours, we were interviewed by well over 50 news crews representing ABC, NBC, CBS, TBN & FOX, as well as by a host of major newspapers & magazines. Most generally, while the TV crews were filming Sandy and I, our sixteen year old son,Tyler, was busy turning the tables, and taking pictures of them! We got quite a collection of these presscrews as you can see below.

In our role as, what one reporter called, "Americas Ambassadors of Prayer", God gave Sandy and I the privilege of meeting with key ministry leaders from across the U.S.A.. These included: Focus on the Family's Shirley Dobson, as well as other National Day of Prayer leaders, Lisa Crump and Brian Toon, and National Prayer Committee chairman, Dave Butts. While in Colorado, we also met Dick Eastman of Every Home For Christ. During our DC Tour, we met Liberty University's chancellor, Jerry Falwell, Jr., and during our Deep South Tour, with Vonnette Bright of Campus Crusade For Christ; and American Family Association's, Don & Tim Wildmon. Most recently, we also met with WallBuilders' David Barton and Rick Green. All of these leaders are being greatly used of God and every one of them was very gracious and encouraging to Sandy and I. How many of these can you identify below?

Finally, we were blessed by God and honored by America's Christian communityby the success of our country's largest, nation-wide, virtual prayer meeting as thousand upon thousands of Christians joined in our web-based White House Prayer Meeting during Prayer Force One Sunday. (Sunday, November 2, 2008) We intend to repeat and grow this event every two years on the Sunday just before each of our national elections.

A Very Special Presidential Thanks

While Sandy and I wish we could publicly thank the hundreds of volunteers who have helped to make Prayer Force One such a tremendous success, we know that these are simply too numerous to list. These include our dedicated staff, craftsmen who volunteered their time, as well as thousands of prayer warriors just like you, who have prayed and supported this God-ordained ministry.

I must, however, send forth a personal and public thanks to President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. As many of you know, President George W. Bush graciously wrote to Prayer Force One when we first began sponsoring our White House Prayer Meeting. (Letter, dated May 12, 2006) Our White House prayer time was accomplished by linking to the official White House web site. While this cannot and should not be construed as an endorsement by President Bush or The White House, his letter was nevertheless encouraging to us early on! Thank you and God bless you Mr. President!

Prayer Force One Earns Her Wings!

And now, allow me to forward a bit of news that encouraged my heart during the Christmas season. It appears that President Bush is not the only one who appreciates the spiritual work of Prayer Force One. Just before Christmas, we received a letter from a dear Christian brother. I include a portion of the letter below.

Dear Ed,
Hello, and Merry Christmas! I just wanted you to know that I have been fowarding the Prayer Force One letters to (name omitted for courtesy), who is stationed in Washington D.C. in the United States Air Force, and yes, he is a Christian. But the best thing of all, he is a Staff Sergeant on the Air Force One, Presidential Logistics Squadron, which now means that Prayer Force One is actually connected to Air Force One now and true!!... I just wanted you to know that the 2 Forces... are connected, now and for real!! Isnt God fun!!! God bless you my brother, and keep up the good fight. It is just starting to get interesting!
Your Brother In Christ,
(Name omitted for courtesy)

This Christmas we had a little bell on the mantle of our fireplace, which our youngest grandchildren liked to ring. What many do not know is that at Andrews Air Force Base, (the home of Air Force One) the Air Force One family refers to the presidential airplane as "Angel". We do the same to her spiritual counterpart, Prayer Force One; after all, we are certainly on a heavenly mission! So, like George Bailey's little girl said in the classic Christmas movie, Its A Wonderful Life, - "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets her wings."

At Prayer Force One headquarters, we have accepted the above e-mail and Christmas bell-ringing as a token set of wings from our Heavenly Father. Thus, during Christmas, we added an official set of "Prayer Wings" to "America's Flagship of Prayer". (Shown below). These "prayer wings" will also be used byPF-1 Prayer Chaplains and Prayer Captains as we move into the future.

In the days ahead, our goal is to encourage the establishment of Prayer Force One "Prayer Wings" in as many churches and homes as possible. I'll be saying more about this in the near future. Please pray for us as we forge ahead with plans for this local, tangible, nation-wide addition toAmerica's prayer movement.

Operation: Inaugural Prayer

I also hope that you will join us in Operation: Inaugural Prayer. This will be a very special Prayer Force One, virtual prayer meeting in The White House, on Inauguration Day, next Tuesday, January 20th. I will be sending more information about this event in our next letter. To sign in to our White House prayer meeting, just click on the icon below. I know that God will bless you for your prayers.

Two Final Notes:
